OLYMPIAN
Based in the American state of Louisiana, OLYMPIAN manufacture components for the oil and gas sector, including precision engineered tubing, casings and castings. It is looking to expand internationally and into new sectors including medical applications.
A young firm that supplies the energy sector with tubing, casings and castings
OLYMPIAN is a company which manufactures specialist equipment for the oil and gas extraction and processing industries. The firm was founded in 2007 by engineering experts Kent Bonvillain and Whitney Guidry in the town of Houma, Louisiana. OLYMPIAN Machine, LLC started out with just 3 employees, but had an effective plan - to supply high quality tubing, casing and castings to the oil and gas industry, which had many operations off the coast of Louisiana. OLYMPIAN expanded rapidly as customer demand proved to be huge, and moved into a 14,000 square metre facility in the town of Terrebonne in 2008, where the company installed the latest in computer-controlled CNC machining technology in the production of its castings and tubing. By 2014, the firm was employing more than 50 people operating 24 hours per day in a 22,000 square metre manufacturing facility. Despite suffering a little due to hurricanes and the economic downturn in 2008, OLYMPIAN has proven true to its name and bounced back.
Forming strategic partnerships and weathering economic problems
A strategic partnership with metals producer Howco has made its supply chains more efficient while the company also chose to acquire fellow manufacturer Wadko Precision in 2012, which added to its portfolio, and allowed it to gain a foothold in the Texan oil and gas sector as well. Additionally, OLYMPIAN has been working to move into other sectors besides oil and gas, including coal power generation and medical applications for its casing, casting and tubing products. This is made possible by the wide number of different materials that the firm can machine, which includes aluminium, chrome, plastics and copper, as well as the many different machining capabilities that OLYMPIAN can offer - from honing and sawing to milling and lathes. The company has also developed a core commitment to quality assurance in all of its products - a necessity when dealing with the oil and gas sector, and has installed a broad range of gages and detectors when manufacturing its components to make sure that they are fit for purpose.
