DEMAG Cranes AG is one of the leading suppliers of of harbour and crane technology, and since 2011 it has been part of the TEREX Corporation. This international company sells their products under the brands GOTTWALD and DEMAG.

DEMAG TEREX History

The history of DEMAG Cranes began in the year 1819 when the mechanical workshop Harkort & Co was founded in Wetter (Ruhr). 21 years later, the first overhead travelling crane was produced. Since then the company has specialised in producing cranes and components for cranes. In 1910, the product range was expanded to include electric lifting devices. In the same year, the mechanical workshop in Harkort was added to DEMAG (“Deutsche Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft”). In 1973, MANNESMANN took over DEMAG, and in 2006 TEREX Material Handling & Port Solutions AG took over. Five years later, the majority of the corporation belonged to the Terex Group. Today, the company under the brand name TEREX DEMAG has production facilities in 16 countries and is one of the leading suppliers of crane and harbour technology. The company has a worldwide sales and service network through its representative and subsidiary companies.
